Certified Yoga Therapist has been changing people’s lives for 3 decades. As founder and director of one of the Chicago area’s premier yoga studios, Yoga Among Friends, Laura Jane has made the practice and teaching of yoga her life’s work. To Laura Jane, the teachings of yoga are a sacred lineage to be passed on from teacher to student.
Laura Jane’s study of yoga began in 1979, and she became a certified yoga teacher in 1989. A life-long learner, she has had the pleasure to study under some of yoga’s leading masters including: T.K.V. Desikachar, Chase Bossart, Kate Holcombe, Richard Miller, Rod Stryker, Ganga White, Tracey Rich, and Erich Schiffman. From 2007–2012, her studies culminated in her credentialing as a Certified Yoga Therapist through Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation in Chennai, India. Currently, Laura Jane is under the tutelage and guidance of Pandit Rajmani Tiginuit, the spiritual head of the Himalayan Institute.
In addition to her in-depth studies of yogic philosophies, Laura Jane is a therapist. She enjoys blending her M.A. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology (1993, Antioch University) with her yoga therapy certification to provide her clients with a holistic approach to psychological and emotional imbalances that affect the immune system.
Laura Jane has held workshops throughout the world, including Costa Rica, Jamaica, Hawaii, the Northwest Pacific, New York City, Tennessee, Italy, Greece, Guatemala, and Belize. She continues to teach yoga students and to train those who wish to become yoga therapists themselves.

Chase Bossart, C-IAYT, 500 E-RYT, M.A.
Chase brings humor, warmth, and compassion to all his teachings. Chase’s strength is making the some-what-lofty teachings of Yoga easy to understand. It’s his mission to teach Yoga in a clear and organized way, so you can apply it to your daily life. He values sustainable transformation, experiential understanding and relationship, and holds these as the foundation for his teaching.
Chase, E-RYT 500, M.A., is specialized in the therapeutic application of Yoga in the tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya and Mr. TKV Desikachar. He studied as a private student of Mr. TKV Desikachar for 20+ years and instructed at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India.
Currently, Chase is the Director of Yoga Well Institute. He also serves as a member of the Yoga Alliance Advisory Group to the Standard’s Committee and as Adjunct Faculty for Loyola Marymount’s Yoga Therapy RX Program. In addition to these endeavors, Chase has held a private, yoga-therapist practice for 10+ years. The care and trust between Chase and his students has supported long-time transformation. Now, he especially loves leading experiential workshops that demonstrate yoga philosophy’s relevance to today’s world.

JJ Gormley, C-IAYT, 500 E-RYT, M-CAM
JJ is a Yoga Therapist and Holistic Healthcare Coach with an MS in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She is also the founder of Surya Chandra Healing Yoga School (a school for training yoga teachers) and Surya Chandra Yoga Sanga (a 501c3 dedicated to bringing yoga to communities in need). She has been studying yoga since 1979 and has studied from many traditions of yoga including: Anusara, Ashtanga, Bikram, Integral, Iyengar, Kripalu, Kundalini, Sivananda, and most recently and comprehensively, the teachings of TKV Desikachar in the Krishnamacharya lineage and tradition commonly called Viniyoga. JJ began teaching yoga in 1989 and teaching teachers in 1994. She has been developing and running Teacher Training Programs since 1994, producing highly qualified and sought-after teachers. She has directed Teacher Training Programs at many locations across the United States, training hundreds of teachers.
JJ is known for her ability to create a supportive environment where she leads participants toward their strengths, mentoring them to transform current habits and make changes for the better. Therein lies the most simplest of yoga principles: making changes for self-betterment. Amy Wheeler, C-IAYT, 500 E-RYT, Ph.D.
Amy Wheeler, Ph.D. - Over the last 25 years, Amy's life purpose has been to educate people in yoga, psychology and wellness. She uses her professional skills to engage students’ body, breath and mind; teaching them how to create sustainable health and happiness.
Amy has studied yoga and yoga therapy in India, Europe and the United States. During the past 15 years, Amy studied extensively in the T. Krishnamacharya Tradition. On numerous extended trips, she studied at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) in Chennai, India. Amy has been certified as a yoga teacher, yoga teacher trainer and yoga therapist in this tradition and has completed 2 comprehensive yoga therapy internships at the KYM. Prior to this, Amy completed teacher training certifications in several internationally popular styles of yoga and yoga therapy.
Amy serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Additionally, she is helping to develop and define standards for Yoga Therapists inthe National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA). Amy teaches Yoga Therapy at the Loyola Marymount University Yoga Rx Program, and is on the LMU Faculty offering one of the first Masters Degree Programs in Yoga in the United States. She specializes in women’s issues at all phases of life with emphasis on the endocrine system, nervous system, digestive system and structural kinesiology.
Amy founded the Healing Yoga Institute in 2007. She trains yoga teachers at the 200, 300 and 500-hour levels for the Healing Yoga Institute. She trains Yoga Therapists at the 1000-hour level.
